Since we have learnt that their rings can be seen on every second well-dressed girl in Warsaw we found ourselves looking for this trend. And indeed, it’s true. Fashion? Maybe. Warsaw likes novelties. But SOTE offers this type of jewellery which has a chance to stay with us for longer.
Our first impression – minimalism. Elena and Janek Lewczuk, creators of SOTE, are not attached to one term. “Elle” calls their products “surrealistic”. However, it is not entirely the right word. Maybe more suitable would be “play with minimalism”?
Elena and Janek have inclinations towards simplicity and elegance. You can see it in their interiors and the way they dress. Thus, when they were creating their jewellery brand they decided to reduce not add. They have worked out their own style and they are consistent: only two widths of a ring, two widths of a stone frame, the same rounding design in earrings. Their jewellery is light and delicate.
But this is where all the rules finish and some fun begins. On your ring, you can have small moving balls or a strange “tail”. To your pendant, you can choose various charms and separate them from each other the way you want. Brooches and pins set in various configurations on our clothes each time create a different story. Earrings are also good for experiments.
And finally stones! Janek can talk about them for hours. He has recently enchanted the clients on the design fairs telling them all about stones and showing how they change colours.

We are meeting at SOTE studio in the centre of Warsaw in Szpitalna Street. We are sitting on chairs designed by Janek for Paged, Elena is supervising shipping, goldsmiths are working on the orders in the adjoining room. They have achieved all this just in two years. They are humble, so they will not admit they are proud of their success. But it is an incredible moment when success boosts your self-esteem and gives you wings.
