Świder – a river from childhood memories. Do you feel the same? We go there with our kids to swim in nature. It is one of these magical places within a city bus reach which we would like to show you.
There are a few options for example canoeing. However, the Świder river is shallow, ideal mostly in spring. Thus you can walk with a current because the water in the deepest area is only waist high. There is also a walking route in the woods, along the river.
There are plenty of small beaches on the way. The bigger ones are located near the Świder train station where the river falls into the Vistula river. We recommend two options. On Saturday take a train to the Falenica market – one of the best in town (buy a ticket for zone 1 as it is still Warsaw), and then go to Świder to relax by the river. The city beach is the best around midday because in the evenings it is getting noisier.
The mouth of the river Świder is magical. Have a look at the photos. We are at the level of the Świderskie Islands- a nature reserve. It is a paradise for birds and people as well. Vast beaches, where you can see skyscrapers and the Palace of Culture and Science looming in the distance. We are outside the city, yet we feel like on holidays. You can get there from the Wiatraczna roundabout by bus line 702 (zone 2). Entrance to the beach is in Górki at the level of a household at Górki 16.
