Autumn is a time of festivals. Several of them start this weekend.
8 PM – Museum on the Vistula (Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie St 22) – OPENING OF ‘OSKAR AND ZOFIA HANSEN. OPEN FORM’ EXHIBITION, admission free.
Finally a long – awaited exhibition of Oskar and Zofia Hansen’s legacy returns from international travels. They are one of the finest Polish creators of the second part of 20th century not only in the field of socially engaged architecture. Read more here…
Big institutions are opening their new exhibitions simultaneously. Eat something after the opening at the Museum of Modern Art in its Korean Powidoki bistro and move on to ZACHĘTA for the opening of Hubert Czerepok’s exhibition (Małachowskiego Square 3) and to the Ujazdowski Castle CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART for the ‘Dizziness. An outdoor event inaugurating the opening of the ‘Przemiany’ festival will take place in the neighbourhood of the Museum by the Vistula. Music by: Andy Stott (UK), Demdike Stare (UK), HMOT (RU), Astma (PL) i FOQL (PL). Tickets: 30 zł.
all weekend, 11 AM-11 PM – Copernicus Science Centre (Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie St 20) – ‘PRZEMIANY’ FESTIVAL
This is the only festival in the city that embraces science, art, design and new technologies. The motto of this year’s edition is ‘Who does cosmos belong to?’. We highly recommend the ‘Return to Moon’ exhibition about the concept of the Moon Village and bold visions of Moon colonization. 10 AM-8 PM – WILCZA STREET FESTIVAL
It is worth taking a walk through this downtown street because every business located here prepares something special for this occasion. The festival is organized by the ‘Miasto Jest Nasze’ Association.
10:30 PM – Bar Studio (Palace of Culture and Science, Studio Theatre) – WARSAW AUTUMN CLUB MUSIC
One of the most important festivals of contemporary music ‘Warsaw Autumn’ starts this weekend. As a warm up we recommend ‘Re:mix’ – triptych concert by Tadeusz Sudnik, Macio Moretti and the Tefiton duet consisting of Erhard Hirt and Claus van Bebber, who will interpret selected works of contemporary Polish composers.
All weekend – ‘SQUARES IN THE SQUARE’. OPENING WEEKEND OF ‘WARSAW UNDER CONSTRUCTION’
Background for the festival events will be an outline of the future Central Square painted at Defilad Square along with another well known squares from different parts of the world. During the weekend we highly recommend:
Saturday and Sunday, 8 PM – TR Warszawa will play its ‘Footballers’. Admission free.
